UK sees 3.5% drop for cattle slaughtering in October
 

 

UK's prime cattle slaughtering has decreased by 3.5% on-year for October 2012.

 

The October 2012 figures show that cattle slaughtering were 198,000 head. Beef and veal production was 92,000 tonnes, 1.7% lower than in October 2011.

 

UK clean sheep slaughtering were 7% lower than in October 2011 at 1,447,000 head. Mutton and lamb production was 33,000 tonnes, 7% lower than in October 2011.

 

UK clean pig slaughtering were 1% higher than in October 2011 at 1,004,000 head. Pig meat production was 81,000 tonnes, 0.8% lower than in October 2011.
