World 2010 wheat plantings seen down 1.5 million hectares on-year
World wheat plantings are expected to fall slightly on the year in 2010, the International Grains Council said Thursday (November 26).
The IGC expects world wheat plantings will fall 1.5 million hectares on the year to 222 million hectares in 2010.
However, this is still 2 percent above the five-year average, said the monthly report.
World 2009-10 wheat production is revised up 1 million tonnes on the month to 668 million tonnes, said the report.
This is 19 million tonnes below the record 2008-09 production.
