Cherkizovo Group participates in Russia assembly's expert council

Russia's Cherkizovo Group recently took an active part in the meeting of the country's Agricultural Sector Economics expert council for the Duma's Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

The meeting was led by Aleksei Balyberdin, Member of the State Duma and Vice Chairman of the expert council. The attendees included representatives of the Department of Integrated Analysis and Forecasting of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Department for AIC Market Regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), the Russian Union of Poultry Producers (Rosptitsesoyuz), the Russian Grain Union, the Association of Confectionery Manufacturers "ASKOND", the Russian Union of Flour Mills and Cereals Plants, the Union of Food and Processing Machinery Manufacturers.

The council discussed the domestic food aid programme and its outlook, along with legislative support. The domestic food aid programme is firmly rooted in Russia's Food Safety Doctrine, which seeks to secure stable food products supply for the population, the development of the national agro-industrial complex and prompt response to internal and external risks to the stability of the food market.

"This programme enjoys ample support not just from various associations, ministries and agencies, but from the business community as well," said Aleksei Balyberdin, Member of the State Duma's Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. "Its primary objective is to support socially vulnerable groups."

"We are staunch advocates of resuming the work on this programme, and not because we have something to gain commercially, be it production volumes or geographies," said Anastasia Mikhailova, head of government and public relations at Cherkizovo Group. "...we believe this programme will do good not only for the consumer, but for the producer likewise, which is particularly relevant given the existing oversupply."

Andrey Dalnov, head of strategic marketing at Cherkizovo, took the floor to speak on international best practices in terms of food aid. He listed meat, poultry, fish, dairy, cereals, bread, fruit and vegetables among the potential candidates for the food aid programme.
