Australia bound Vietnamese catfish exports surge

Vietnam raked in US$30 million from tra and basa catfish exports to Australia since the onset of 2007, posting an increase of 30 percent over the corresponding period last year, according to Intellasia News.

The average export price to the market has increased to US$3.28 a kilogramme, up by US$0.40 per kilogramme compared to last year and is expected to rise to US$3.5 per kilogram

At present, 71 Vietnamese seafood companies are shipping products to Australia, including the country's leading tra and basa exporters of Thuan Hung, An Giang Seafood and Vinh Hoan.
