Vietnam's Seafood Exports Surpass US$2 Billion
Vietnam's seafood exports recorded US$205 million in November, falling US$20 million from the previous month. The total aquatic export value surpassed US$2 billion during the first 11 months, rising 4% year-on-year where frozen shrimp, fish and cuttlefish still spearhead export items.
US-bound shrimp shipments plummeted due to the anti-dumping case. As a result, the price of domestic shrimp has fallen to VND140,000 per kilo (20 heads per kilo), down by VND10,000.
The Ministry of Fisheries has directed enterprises to boost trade promotion in Japan, the EU and other countries. It also encouraged them to expand domestic outlets, and participate in trade fairs to improve exports.
