Polish administrative region now confirms 20 ASF cases

Poland's chief veterinary officer has confirmed 18 cases of African swine fever in feral pigs in  the Lubuskie voivodshi  (an area administered by a voivode or governor) on November 19.

Together with the first and the second cases confirmed this month, the total number of cases reported is now 20 cases in the voivodship, which is about 100km from the German border.

Samples were taken from nine locations during searches in the contaminated area and a buffer zone has been established based on risk analysis.

Intensive searches are being carried out with the participation of the Polish military and the construction of a new fence is being considered.

Construction of the first fence was completed on November 18 this year.
