Bird flu outbreak confirmed in Croatia

Croatia has officially confirmed an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu virus on a poultry farm, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), Reuters reported.

The outbreak infected five poultry within a flock of 19,600 on a farm located in the Brodsko-Posavska county near the Bosnian border. The Paris-based WOAH released a report citing Croatian authorities.

H5N1 avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, has been a global concern in recent years, prompting the culling of hundreds of millions of poultry worldwide.
