Catfish feed deliveries in the US down

US catfish feed deliveries during October 2006 was 57,653 tonnes, down 14 percent on-year and 52 percent below the previous month.

Foodsize fish feed delivered totaled 54,011 tons, down 16 percent on-year while feed for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 3,642 tonnes, up 16 percent on-year

Catfish feed delivere during the January-October period totaled 751,414 tonnes, up 2 percent on-year, with 94 percent of the total feed delivered for foodsize catfish.

Feed delivered to Mississippi, which accounted for half the total foodsize catfish feed delivered, was down 14 percent from last year.

Other major catfish producing states also saw a decline in deliveries. Feed to Alabama was down 27 percent on-year while those to Arkansas and Louisiana was down 16 percent and 46 percent respectively.
