Spain's pork exports rise 19% in January-August 2020

 

 

Spain's pork exports increased by 19% in volume and 28.6% in value during January-August 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, according to the latest report by Interporc.

 

Most of the exports by volume, are pig meat (71.3% of the total), followed by offal (16.4%), pork products (6.7%), bacon (5.2%) and lard and rendered fat (0.5%).

 

In regards to the destination for these exports, in the first eight months of 2020, China remained the main client of the Spanish white pig sector, absorbing 41.4% of its exports in volume and 35.2% in value. This is followed by France (10.4%), Italy (7.4%), Japan (4.3%), Portugal (3.8%), Poland (3.4%), the Philippines (2.6%) and South Korea (1.8%).
