From January-November 15, 2012, Vietnam earned US$5.33 billion from exporting seafood, an increase of 1.8% from the same period last year.
In the first half of November, the country's revenues from seafood export reached US$253.36 million, down from US$264.44 million in the first half of October, the General Department of Customs said in a report.
The Southeast Asian country spent US$579.96 million on aquatic materials imports as of November 15, including US$27.88 million in the first half of this month, the custom said.
Seafood exports brought about US$6.23 billion to Vietnam last year. The country expects the exports to reach US$6.2 billion this year, including US$2.2 billion from shrimp, US$1.8 billion from pangasius fish.
