Ukraine's 2004-05 Corn Exports Seen at 2.7-2.9 Million MT

 

Ukraine is likely to harvest 2.7-2.9 million metric tons of corn in the current marketing season, compared with 1.24 million tons in the previous season, according to the APK-Inform market analyst.

 

The report, quoting the state customs committee, said Ukraine exported in October 27,000 tons of corn and 43,000 tons to Nov. 15.

 

APK-Inform forecasts this year's corn harvest at 8.2 million tons, compared with 6.88 million tons in 2003. Ukraine planted corn on 2.56 million hectares, and the final harvested area will be 2.1 million hectares. The average yield is expected by APK-Inform at 3.9 tons a hectare.
