Ukraine reaps historical record grain, leguminous crop for 2011
For the year 2011, Ukraine has produced a historical record yield of grains and leguminous crops, declared Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine, on Friday (Nov 18).
According to him, in the current year Ukraine confidently established itself as the leading grain country of the world. In terms of wheat exports the country took the eighth place in the world, corn exports - the third, and barley exports - the first place in the world. Agrarians of Ukraine already produced over 50 million tonnes of grains, and in general expect for over 55 million tonnes, and it will be the historical record for the country, he said.
The President also paid tribute to agrarians of Poltava oblast, who harvested over five million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops, Vinnitsa oblast - four million tonnes, and Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa and Kharkiv oblast - over three million tonnes each.
