Moy Park opens Northern Ireland poultry facility

Moy Park has opened a GBP21 million (US$33.8 million) manufacturing facility in Ballymena, County Antrim as part of a phased four-year GBP37 million (US$59.26 million) investment project.

The build, supported by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund, was opened on Wednesday (Nov 17) by Enterprise Minister for The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Arlene Foster.

"This new facility forms a key part of Moy Park's wider strategy which aims to grow and secure our market position. The highly advanced facility will allow us to meet the needs of new and existing customers while investigating new product concepts and increasing our production of consumer led poultry products for UK and European markets, said Nigel Dunlop, managing director of Moy Park.

Poultry and food processing company Moy Park hopes to achieve external sales of around GBP154 million (US$246.64 million) by 2013 with the new facility.
