Thailand Buys 15,000 Tons Soymeal From India
Thailand has bought about 15,000 tons of soymeal from India for January shipment and importers are negotiating for two more cargoes, regional traders said today.
The deal was sealed at $295 per ton C&F, traders added.
"There is some interest for meal in Thailand. They are eyeing late January and early February shipments," said one Singapore-based regional trader.
Thailand's soymeal purchases in the past weeks slowed after Indian prices climbed to more than $300 a ton C&F. But recently, Indian prices have eased following a drop in demand from China.
Thailand, one of Asia's leading chicken exporters, imports more than one million tons of soymeal, largely to be used as animal feed.
