Skretting attends Nordic African business summit in Norway

On November 8, Skretting participated in the Nordic-African Business Summit 2018 in Oslo, Norway.

The summit brought together distinguished speakers, including H.E. Patrice Talon, president of Benin, ministers, ambassadors and guests from the Nordic and African business communities. It was organised by the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA), which seeks to promote business opportunities on the African continent and serve as a bridge between Norwegian and African business communities.

Skretting was represented in the event by Maria Angela Calmet, Nutreco Africa's project manager of sustainability.

The theme for this year's summit was "The Blue Opportunity."

"We hope that this summit will be a unique opportunity to network across blue industries … Everything we do, is connected to something blue. Be it water for hydropower, the blue sky and sun transformed to solar energy, aquaculture, the resources under the ocean surface, the ports and shipping companies who are moving 90% of the continent's import and export on African waters" said Eivend Fjeldstad, managing director of Nordic-African Business Association

Talon, stated that Africa is attractive for investment opportunities. He stressed the need to change the negative perception of Africa.

In his speech, he indicated that the negative perception of the continent slows down investments, opportunities and development and encouraged Nordic companies to keep investing in Africa.

Skretting said it welcomed the opportunity to join and talk about the work the company does in Africa to the Nordic and African communities.

Calmet participated in the session "Agrivision: Where is the potential in Africa?" together with South Africa's Investment Envoy, Bcebisi Jonas, Norfund and Akvaplan-niva AS.

During the session, Calmet shared Skretting's experience and what to expect in the upcoming future for the aquaculture and fish feed industry in Africa.
