Bird flu reported at farm in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK

An outbreak of bird flu has been confirmed at a farm in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, the United Kingdom.

The highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was discovered at Whitelees Poultry Farm in Cleghorn, Lanark, and confirmed by the Scottish Government on November 12.

The Chief Veterinary Officer for Scotland has informed ministers of the outbreak, which has been prevalent on the premises for at least 56 days.

The bird flu outbreak has been contained within a 3 km protection zone and a 10 km surveillance zone around the farm.

In the protection zone, stricter biosecurity measures are enforced, and Scottish ministers must be kept informed of any changes in the health of the birds.
