Hong Kong resumes Spanish poultry imports
Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety has resumed the processing of applications for importing poultry meat and products from Spain, except from the provinces of Guadalajara and Navarra, with immediate effect.
The applications were suspended following the confirmation of avian influenza H7 cases in a poultry farm in Castilla-La Mancha, Guadalajara, in October.
In view of the control measures taken by Spain and the fact that no other cases of avian influenza were reported, the centre decided to resume the processing of applications.
Meanwhile, the importation of poultry meat and products from Navarra has been suspended since the confirmation of avian influenza H5 cases in a duck farm in June.
