EU wheat can't compete with Black Sea, Southern Hemisphere varieties
European Union wheat is unable to compete with wheat from the Black Sea region and the southern hemisphere, which is slowing export demand, Hamburg-based grain trading house Toepfer International said Monday in a monthly report.
However, a strengthening US dollar against the euro should help make the EU market more competitive internationally, the report said.
Corn has also been experiencing slow export demand in countries outside the EU due to prices being too expensive compared to other feed grain, including feed wheat, Toepfer said.
In Germany, winter grain planting is nearly complete, with weather conditions favourable for crop growth, said the report.
