Syrian Wheat Faces Keen Competition in World Market
American, Australian and Canadian wheat are strong competitors for Syrian wheat in the world trade market. Wheat production in Syria doubles the consumption.
According to SANA, revenues of the General Establishment for Cereals Trade and Industry totaled US $195,738 this year in return for exporting 1,042 million tons of cereals.
Syria started exporting wheat in 1994. This comes after the planted areas were expanded to 1,553 hectares that year, which produced 3,703 tons.
