Danish pig farmers plan a US$27.32-million large-scale facility
Nine pig farmers in Denmark's eastern Jutland region have joined forces to invest up to DKK150 million (EUR20.12 million; US$27.32 million) in a new pig farm to produce 200,000 pigs a year.
The new pig farm to be built at Overgård Gods near Mariager Fjord will use the latest cleantech solutions and a bio-gas facility at the farm will process animal waste for the production of heating and electricity at the farm.
The farmers have established a jointly owned company Grynt 2010 that will now initiate efforts to obtain financing for the project.
