Philippine feed producers establish US$3.2 million initiative
A combined project worth PHP152 million (US$3.2 million) between two Philippine feed manufacturing projects has been put up to serve the country's demand for agricultural, aquatic and marine feeds.
Approved by the Board of Investments (BOI) for registration and incentives availability are Dan Way Processing Corp. and 557 Feather Meal Corp.
Dan Way Processing Corp., a wholly-owned Filipino project, is investing PHP82.4 million to set up a feed manufacturing plant in Barangay Bantog, San Miguel, Bulacan with a production capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year.
The plant will be equipped with steel silos for storage, equipment for producing pellets and crumbles, and special feeds using local raw materials.
On the other hand, 557 Feather Meal Corp. is a Filipino-American venture that will invest PHP70.396 million for the production of feed meal for aquatic and marine life species using agricultural wastes and by-products.
The project proponent will set up a facility in Concepcion, Tarlac that would process poultry wastes like feathers, carcass trimmings, condemned carcasses and other internal organs into digestible feeds.
The raw materials used in the production process are supplied by San Miguel Foods Inc., which is also the sole buyer of the company's feed produce, on a toll manufacturing basis.
The project will start commercial operation in January 2010.
