Arla Foods to build world's largest dairy plant

Arla Foods will build the world's largest fresh milk dairy, which will process one billion litres of liquid milk.

The new facility, due to be operational by 2012, will be built on the outskirts of London.

The new facility will create 500 new jobs, and will be the largest and most technologically advanced dairy plant featuring world class environmental credentials, according to Arla.

The project has now started and the land search is being finalised, said Arla CEO Peter Lauritzen.

He added that detailed plans will be presented to the Arla Foods amba board in early 2010.
