South Korea authorises poultry imports from Chile
South Korea's Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has approved the importation of Chilean poultry products, Chile's Export Promotions Program (ProChile) said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 15).
ProChile, an arm of the Foreign Ministry, said the decision would provide "unprecedented" opportunities for Chile's poultry products to enter the Asian market.
Last year, South Korea imported more than US$86 million of frozen chicken. In the first 10 months of this year, it had imported poultry products worth US$65.3 million.
Chile's poultry products have been allowed into South Korea tariff-free since 2004 due to a free trade agreement between the two nations.
