Australia urged to consider its livestock debt
An international aid organisation says Australia should direct its foreign aid to countries that have provided its livestock genetics.
Ed Rege from the International Livestock Research Institute says all of Australia's livestock breeds have come from other places.
Australians should acknowledge the immense value of those genetics, he said.
If indeed Australia recognises the origins of these populations or this genetic material, the country should be giving back what have benefited them, he said,
He said Australia should pour out investments to ensure good trading relationship with these communities.
