UK feed costs to push turkey prices up 10 percent
The high prices of wheat this season will trigger the increase of turkey prices 10 percent, according to Paul Kelly of Kelly Turkeys.
Kelly said that NFU cost analysis has shown that Christmas turkeys in the UK will average 10 percent higher than last year. Due to massive cutbacks in this year's production, turkeys will be in short supply for Christmas.
Prices for mainstream turkey will most likely be up by 22 percent. The top-end turkeys however, are not price sensitive.
