ASF persists in Germany's Spree-Neisse/Wokrejs Sprjewja-Nysa district
African swine fever (ASF) is still active in the Spree-Neisse/Wokrejs Sprjewja-Nysa district in Germany after two years.
Due to the recent detection of ASF-infected wild boars in the areas of Türkendorf, Bloischdorf, and Weskow, the restricted zones I and II, as well as the core area east of Spremberg/Grodk, were extended. The surrounding 'white' zone had to be updated. The districts of Groß Gaglow, Gallinchen, Kiekebusch and Kahren are now also part of restricted zone II.
To prevent the westward movement of potentially infected wild boars, an electric fence has been erected along a highway. This fence, which was implemented as an immediate measure, will be replaced by a permanent fence.
