UkrAgroConsult predicts sad prospects for Bulgaria's rapeseed production
Bulgaria's 2013-14 rapeseed crop does not project any optimism as shown by the data available to UkrAgroConsult.
Having the bitter experience of the last year, when over 50% of rapeseed plantings were lost because of soil drought, Bulgarian farmers preferred not to plant in dry soil this season. As a consequence, this crop's plantings shrank by almost 20%. Noteworthy is that the decrease in plantings happened for the first time in eight years.
In general, winter rape condition is satisfactory now, as plants have just emerged in many fields and will be foremost exposed to the first frosts.
