Ukraine expected to become world's second biggest grain exporter
Ukraine could become the second largest exporter of grain in the world, according to the President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, Leonid Kozachenko.
"Today, Ukraine holds the third-fourth place in the world rankings by the export of these products. We will be second if we maintain the current level," the expert said.
In July-October of the marketing year 2011-2012, wheat exports from Ukraine totalled about 4.8 million tonnes; oil bearing crop exports 0.8 million tonnes. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukraine harvested 50 million tonnes of grain this year.
