Norway, EU sign cheese, meat import deal
Norway and the EU approved on November 9 a chapter of the EEA agreement about increased trade of agricultural products.
This means that Norway's quotas for cheese and meat imports will be increased beginning January 2012.
The cheese quota will be increased to 7,200 tonnes from current 4,500 tonnes. For meat, preliminary quotas have been settled for chicken (800 tonnes), pork (600 tonnes) and beef (900 tonnes). The quotas will be definite once a new WTO agreement is settled.
