Ukraine November grain stocks up 22 percent on-year
Grain stocks in Ukraine on Nov. 1 totaled 15.75 million tonnes, 22 percent more than on the same date last year, the state statistics committee reported Tuesday (November 13, 2007).
Wheat stocks totaled 7.52 million tonnes, 20 percent more than a year ago.
Out of the total amount, farmers held stocks of seven million tonnes of grain, including 3.14 million tonnes of wheat. The rest of the grain was held by grain storage and processing enterprises.
The increase in grain stocks is due to the current ban on the export of grain and to an early start to the harvesting campaign this year, caused by hot weather.
