ACMC to expand hog breed stock production in Yorkshire, UK

Amidst rapid expansion and a rise in global meat demand, UK pig-breeding company ACMC Ltd is setting up new production facilities in Yorkshire, home of the famed Yorkshire breed of hogs that has proved popular in markets all over the world

ACMC Breeders said it would set up three new farms, a high-health 400-sow dam-line nucleus unit, a 500-sow multiplication unit and a 200-sow high-health boar nucleus unit.

Production is being expanded and relocated from existing company-owned farms near its headquarters in East Yorkshire and ACMC is now actively expanding to other parts of the UK, with particular interest in Scotland.

The company's breeding stock is known for outstanding productivity and superb carcass quality.

ACMC has experienced strong sales in the Far East and Eastern Europe, particularly in Thailand and the Philippines, Poland and Romania, the company said.

ACMC's strength lies in the health of its pigs. As pig health can be a major limiting factor in pig production, customers have demanded the best possible health standards,  Stephen Curtis, ACMC's executive chairman said, adding that the company is continually gearing production to meet this demand.

ACMC's stock is able to express its full genetic potential for fertility, growth and feed conversion efficiency without being held back by health issues, Curtis said.
