Ukrainian dairy firms invest in new hard cheese plant

Agroprodservice and Molokiya to jointly build a plant in Ukraine that will process 100 tonnes of milk daily, says Agroprodservice executive Taras Baran.

"The first calculations have already been made. The enterprise will process approximately 100 tonnes of milk per day and produce about 10 tonnes of finished products daily", he noted.

The plant will be a new business area for Agroprodservice, which is continuously expanding its processing segment within the agro-industrial complex.

In its production and sale of finished products, the company relies on the technological and market expertise of its partner, Molokiya, a leading Ukrainian dairy producer.

The project is focused on the manufacture of hard cheeses that are aged 3-12 months, produced to standards similar to the Swiss.

Experts estimate that the investment needed to build the plant could range from US$20 million to US$30 million, depending on automation levels, the equipment manufacturer's country, and other factors.

If demand remains stable, the payback period is projected to be 5-7 years.
