COFCO Argentina crushing plant reports accident, three killed
COFO International's Argentina plant in Saforcada town stopped operations since November 10 after three workers died in an accident, Reuters reported.
A statement by the Chinese commodities giant said the workers died working to carry silos, with operations at the plant stopped while police investigate the incident.
A local oilseed workers federation said in a statement that the three workers died trapped under the grain in the silos of the factory. The union held the company responsible, adding that the state government should do more to ensure safe working conditions.
Argentina is the biggest exporter of soymeal livestock feed in the world, and a major corn and wheat supplier.
