Missouri, US corn and soybeans harvest nearing completion

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports that the harvest progress for Missouri, US has seen modest advancements as 89% of the corn and 84% of soybeans have been harvested across the state, Brownfield Ag News reported.

According to west-central Missouri farmer Daniel Carpenter, harvest activities are mostly concluded in his region, with corn and soybeans exhibiting variable yields.

Carpenter said that harvest is slightly below average yields in some areas, depending on some soil composition, but farmers took out some decent crops in the Missouri River bottoms. Despite less-than-ideal rain conditions, many fields have been successfully harvested.

Cotton harvest in the state is ahead of average, with 89% completion, while 78% of winter wheat has been planted. But the state continues to experience somewhat dry conditions, with topsoil moisture at 53% considered adequate, and subsoil moisture supplies showing 56% in short to very short supply.

In northeast Missouri, farmer Brian Munzlinger expresses optimism for upcoming rain to alleviate dry conditions as fall fieldwork progresses and cover crops are seeded.

The update highlights the ongoing challenge of hay supplies, remaining 62% short to very short, and Missouri's stock water supplies standing at 57% adequate.
