Australia to Increase Beef Exports to China
Australia is expected to substantially increase beef, sheep and goat meat exports to China under a trade agreement.
China has approved Australia's meat export inspection system, according to the Federal Government.
The Australian Meat Industry Council says this means processing plants listed by Chinese authorities, including two in Queensland, will be able to export more products to a wider customer base.
It is an important breakthrough, said the council's national processing director, Tom Maguire.
"China, with 1.2 billion people, is a market that's growing at about five to 10 per cent. This represents huge opportunities," he added.
