Colombia in ongoing efforts to control classical swine fever
Officials from the Colombian Agriculture Institute (ICA) have been working in the departments of Vaupés and Bolívar to maintain zones free of classical swine fever (CSF) and zones with low prevalence.
Vaupés is declared free of CSF. Officials are surveying backyard farms in communities located along a river area known as Inambú. The conditions of the animals and the absence of symptoms compatible with CSF were verified as well as the immune status of the pigs.
In Bolívar, ICA officials have taken samples to determine the presence of CSF.
Vaccination against classical swine fever was carried out on 15 farms in the municipality.
