Vietnam's Dak Lak Provincial Department of Finance has agreed to allocate VND20.25 billion (US$1 million) in support of locals who had to kill their pigs infected with blue-ear pig disease.

The financial support will be provided twice: VND13.44 billion (US$689,584) for the first stage and VND6.81 billion (US$349,410) for the second stage.

The blue-ear pig disease has occurred in 14 of 15 districts, towns, and cities in the whole province. By the end of October, as many as 105,023 pigs had been infected with the disease and 47,628 of them were culled.
