Spain's pork exports dropped 16% in first nine months this year

Spain has exported 999,359 tonnes of pork and pork preparations in the first nine months of 2023, representing a drop of 16% compared to the same period last year when 1,190,322 tonnes were exported.

The amount is also far from the 1,513,911 tonnes exported between January and September 2021.

All exports to the major destinations have decreased compared to the same period of the previous year, except for the United Kingdom, which increased by 6%.

China remains the leading destination, with a share of 43.6% of total exports, although these have decreased by 12.33% compared to the same period in 2022.

The Philippines shows the largest decrease (-37.55%) and its share in the total has decreased from 15.54% in 2022 to 11.56% in 2023. Exports to Japan and South Korea have also decreased by 11% and 24%, respectively.
