Argentina sequences entire genome of non-GMO soybean variety

Argentina has sequenced the complete genome of a non-genetically soybean variety for the first time, the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina said.

The breakthrough is key to genetic improvement and will make it possible to gather a set of genetic information contained in a soybean variety developed in Argentina.

The research is expected to have a potential impact on plant breeders, especially by providing them with information to make more efficient soybean varieties with new characteristics.
