The Andersons reports lower results for Q3

The Andersons Inc., has reported sharply lower profit and sales for the third quarter.

The company's quarterly profit was US$1.3 million, down from US$12.8 million for the same period a year ago. Sales fell to US$601 million from US$906 million a year ago.

The company's primary grain and ethanol group had operating income comparable to a year ago, but had an operating loss in its rail, fertiliser, and retail groups.
