Aviagen gets US$200,000 grant from state of Alabama

Aviagen has received a US$200,000 grant from the US state of Alabama for the expansion of the company's operations in Elkmont town, Limestone Country.

The grant, approved by Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, is meant to help Aviagen renovate its two broiler breeding and hatchery farms in Elkmont.

The amount, officials said, could also help Aviagen hire 25 more full-time employees in its Elkmont operations.

"My administration is committed to providing jobs and helping Alabama grow and prosper," the government said. "By helping a growing business fulfill its plans, this grant will bring needed jobs and other benefits for the residents of Elkmont and Limestone County."
