UK reports H5N8 bird flu at Cheshire chicken farm
Britain has detected H5N8 bird flu at a Frodsham, Cheshire, England chicken farm, with all 13,000 birds at the farm to be culled, Reuters reported.
The farm produces hatching eggs. A temporary 3 km and 10 km control zone has been imposed around the farm to prevent the spread of the virus.
Further testing will be conducted to confirm if this bird flu is a highly pathogenic strain and if it is related to the virus circulating in Europe.
Europe has reported a series of bird flu outbreaks, disrupting the poultry industry's slaughtering programmes.
