New UK-Japan trade deal to cut tariffs on British meat

 
 

The United Kingdom and Japan have signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) on October 23.

 

CEPA is the first agreement that the UK has secured beyond an existing EU deal and provides tariffs for export of its meat products.

 

CEPA will support the exports of UK products through reduced tariffs on products such as beef - most favoured nation (MFN) 38.5% reducing gradually to 9% - pork - MFN up to 4.3% reducing gradually to 0% - and salmon - MFN 3.5% reducing gradually to 0%.
