Bayer appoints new head for animal health in Asia-Pacific

Bayer HealthCare (BHC) has announced the appointment of Joerg Ellmanns as head of the animal health division's operations in the Asia-Pacific. Ellmanns will assume his new responsibilities on Jan 1, 2007, and continue to be based in Monheim, Germany.

 

With Ellmann's newly created function, the company has placed great emphasis in aligning the businesses across the Asia-Pacific (China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand) and has now also included the previously independent business of Japan.

 

Joerg Ellmanns joins the regional animal health team from his current role as Head of BHC Animal Health, Business Development. Ellmanns brings more than 16 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development in Veterinary and Companion Animal Health to the region.

 

Born in 1964 at Burscheid, Germany, he began his professional career in the health care industry in 1990 when he completed a training course at Bayer AG, culminating in an Associate Degree in Business Administration with state certification and joined Bayer Animal Health's former Veterinary Business Group in Monheim as Business Manager for the Middle East.

 

In 1996, he was promoted as Product Manager for the Livestock portfolio of Bayer's South African subsidiary before returning to work for the Companion Animals Business in Monheim. In 2000, he was posted to Brussels where he headed the Animal Health Business in the Benelux countries for three years.

 

Ellmanns commented on his outlook of the animal health business in the Asia-Pacific, "Looking forward, the ambition of the Animal Health division in the Asia-Pacific is to keep up with momentum and grow the business in this highly attractive region through both internal growth and external opportunities. On top of the financials, we will remain focused to gain competitive advantage through further enhancement of our customer focus and develop our management expertise and leadership skills."
