Ukraine's September pig population up 1.2% or 96,900 heads

 

 

Ukraine's pig population reached 8,088,700 heads as of October 1, 2012, an increase of 1.2% in September or 96,900 heads compared to August.

 

According to the State Statistics Service, pig population increased by 0.4% or 18,900 heads against August, to 4,435,900 heads in private farms, and - by 2.2% or 78,000 heads to 3,634,800 heads in specialised farms.

 

Specifically, pig population rose by 2.7% or 93,900 heads in specialised farms, and fell by 0.9% or 40,500 heads in private farms.

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in August, pig population rose by 0.9% or 67,500 heads compared to July, to 7,991,800 heads as of September 1, 2012.
