Water treatment systems specialist Bio-UV Group, based in France, has joined forces with Boston, Massachusetts, US-based aquaculture technology provider Innovasea to introduce its water treatment devices to the aquaculture market, SeafoodSource reported.

Bio-UV specialises in designing and manufacturing water treatment systems that employ ultraviolet (UV) radiation, ozone, electrolysis, and advanced oxidation processes (AOP). Their water purification technology has found applications in various sectors, including swimming pools, aquariums, industrial processes, drinking water, and aquaculture.

This multinational agreement with Innovasea is set to broaden Bio-UV's reach within the aquaculture market and enable the adaptation of its products to meet North American standards, supporting its expansion efforts.

Bio-UV Group chief executive officer Laurent-Emmanuel Migeon said that through the partnership, they will open new avenues of business, especially in North America. This partnership is full of opportunities for expansion for both parties, sharing a passion for sustainability. Both companies will also benefit from each other's expertise, experience, and networks.

While Bio-UV primarily targeted the European market, this partnership provides a gateway to the North American market, particularly the aquaculture industry, which plays a crucial role in maintaining global food security and preserving oceans from overexploitation.

Bio-UV's deputy general manager, Simon Marshall, emphasised the company's commitment to supporting and growing the aquaculture industry through their UV water disinfection and ozone water treatment solutions. Marshall also praised Innovasea for their strong industry reputation and established distribution networks, which make them an ideal partner to expedite growth.

Under the partnership, Innovasea will offer Bio-UV's water treatment technology to its aquaculture industry customers, with a focus on those utilizing recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Innovasea's vice president and general manager of land-based aquaculture, Marc Turano, noted that the partnership would allow them to continue delivering high-quality UV solutions to their customers, leveraging their reputation for designing customised RAS systems and supplying top-notch equipment.
