Fiji to push productions of beef and dairy for local market, exports

Fiji will increase local production of beef and dairy for both its domestic market and exports, the country's Ministry of Agriculture said.

Fijian Minister for Agriculture Mahendra Reddy has voiced his optimism for the potential of the local livestock sector on October 29, according to local media.

Encouraging farmers to work with his ministry to grow from their available assistance, Reddy said the government wants to increase the production of sheep, beef and dairy products to boost exports of Fiji's livestock industry for good economic returns.

A government press release also stated that there is a rising preference for sheep and goat meat among Fijians and tourists, thus spurring market opportunities to invest in these animals.
