UK sets up fund to support development of aquaculture industry

 

 

The United Kingdom will administer a new fund that will support the development of the aquaculture and fishery sectors.


According to an October 25 report by Undercurrent News, the fund will help drive innovation and adoption of new technologies, and enhance port infrastructures and processing fisheries and aquaculture products. These actions will be undertaken in view of the country's official Brexit split from the European Union.


Theresa Villiers, Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs,also announced the opening of applications for £15.4 million (US$19.8 million) from two UK fishing funds in late October.


As for the fund in England, it is open to applications that include delivering productive investment in the processing of fisheries and aquaculture products, one of the many required actions.
