Russia and Japan resume poultry imports from Arkansas, US

Russia and Japan have lifted the ban on poultry imports from Arkansas, US, which was put in place earlier after a grower farm in Scott County tested positive for the H7N7 virus.

The infected farm was under contract for Tyson Foods.

According to state and federal protocol, Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission quarantined all poultry raised within a 6.2 mile radius while the entire infected flock was culled.

Japan and Russia have lifted the ban early last month and shipments to Russia have already resumed.

Arkansas poultry companies said they expected no material impact from these bans as they were able to supply their customers through processing plants located in other states.
