Indonesia's broiler consumption to rise 46 percent
Indonesia's broiler consumption in the next five years will increase 46 percent to seven kg per capita per annum, according to an industry expert.
Current per capita per annum broiler consumption is 4.8kg.
Egg consumption is estimated to reach eight kg per capita per annum by 2014, rising from the current five kg per capita per annum.
To reach these targets, stakeholders need to boost efficiency and industrial competitiveness by making joint nutritional campaign, said Krisantono, chairman of the Poultry Seedling Companies Association (GPPU).
The government should also issue policies that would make the investment climate more favourable, and provide economic stimulus and develop infrastructures for the agricultural sector, he said.
The government should also maximise assistance to farmers in providing hybrid corn seed and fertiliser, Krisantono added.
